Frequently Asked Questions
Get in touch if you need any help.
Is Pilates high or low impact?
Pilates should be challenging but is by nature, low impact.
Are your classes for novices or experts?
It’s a mixture. I run classes specifically designed for beginners and clients completely new to Pilates and my mixed ability classes are for clients who wish to improve and develop their technique, range of movement and continue to strengthen their core. One to ones are tailored for any level.
What’s the difference between Yoga and Pilates?
In summary, they are ‘similar’. Joseph Pilates, the creator, was influenced by Yoga but evolved it to focus more on your range of movement (rather than stillness) and strengthening your core.
What should I wear to a session?
Comfortable clothing that enables you to stretch in all directions. So I can see your movements, it shouldn’t be too baggy. Fancy pants or your favourite joggers will be fine.
Do I need any equipment?
For both face to face and Zoom sessions you will need an exercise/gym/yoga mat and head cushion. You can buy some great and sustainably produced mats from these guys or these, this is a link to the mat I use. There are plenty of lower priced ones available widely.
Where are your classes held?
I run classes in and around the Chichester, Petworth and Pulborough areas and via Zoom.
From the 13th of October I’ll be offering regular classes at Pulborough Village Hall as well as the brand new Pavilion, in Chichester.
Have a look at the Mixed Ability and Beginners classes I offer for more detail on locations.
One to Ones can be at your home, Zoom or another suitable location. Weather permitting it’s always great to enjoy classes outside.
How do I get the best out of a Zoom session?
I’ll need to see you head to toe, both when standing and lying down. Please check your tech and camera positioning before joining a session. I’ll happily join you via Zoom in advance so we can check your set up is good to go, just let me know.
If you’re new to Zoom, visit their site to get started, it’s really straight forward.
Any other questions, please just ask me and I’ll do my best to help.
